In the next 12 months I plan on raising money for a local domestic abuse charity. I’m doing this as part of one of the awards I’m working on, but also because I find domestic abuse disgusting, whether its emotional or physical – no one should have to live with that.

Anyway, before I go off on a rant back to the cake stands. I plan on hosting a tea and cake afternoon next spring using some homemade cake stands which will be sold either at the event or before/afterwards online. I’ve been volunteering in a local charity shop and I came across some lovely plates. They were a bargain at £3.99 for 12!

I thought they were very quaint and cute -my husband disagrees! He thinks they’re ugly. I bought them anyway, isn’t that what marriage is all about – compromise?

Anyway here is the first cake stand:

Isn’t it lovely? I will be at some point, be doing a step-by-step tutorial and giving a link for where I bought the fittings from.

I have enough plates to make 6 stands, but I will be at car boots and charity shops searching for some more as I realise not everyone likes dainty little pink flowers like I do.

I was thinking of selling them for about £7 pound each – I’m also happy to post if the cost of postage is covered by the buyer. So if you want one, or want me to find a particular type of plate to make one then feel free to drop me a message.

Keep your eyes peeled for that tutorial and as always, feedback is always appreciated. Maybe you have some other ideas you think would work well with my tea and cake afternoon, if you do, you know I’m always lurking online somewhere.
